বহু যুগের ও পার হতে আষাঢ় এল আমার মনে, কোন্ সে কবির ছন্দ বাজে ঝরো ঝরো বরিষনে॥ যে মিলনের মালাগুলি ধুলায় মিশে হল ধূলি গন্ধ তারি ভেসে আসে আজি সজল সমীরণে॥ সে দিন এমনি মেঘের ঘটা রেবানদীর তীরে, এমনি বারি ঝরেছিল শ্যামলশৈলশিরে। মালবিকা অনিমিখে চেয়ে ছিল পথের দিকে, সেই চাহনি এল ভেসে কালো মেঘের ছায়ার সনে॥
Transliteration
Bohu juger opaar hote aasharh elo aamar mone, Kon se kobir chhando baaje jharo jharo borishaane. Je miloner maalaguli dhulay mishe holo dhuli Gandho taari bhese aashe aaji sajalo somirane. Se din emni megher ghata rebanodiro tire, Emni baari jhorechhilo shyamolo shoiloshire. Maalobika animikhe cheye chhilo pathero dike, Sei chaahoni elo bhese kaalo megher chhaayaro sone.

From the banks of a distant era, the thoughts of monsoon came to me Which poet's rhythms play with the sound of the falling rain The fallen garlands of union that merged with the dust The fragrance of those wafts in with the damp breeze. That day on the river bank there was the same sort of clouds The same way the rain had fallen on the mossy rocks Malavika had stared unblinking at the path Her gaze had floated in with the dark shadow of the clouds
