अरुणधति देवी

Arundhati Devi (1925–1990) trained in music at Santiniketan and sang Rabindrasangeet before Bengali cinema took her: she acted through the 1950s and 60s — Bhagini Nivedita, Chhuti, Chalachal — and then directed, which very few women in the industry did at the time.

Her connection to this archive is the notation work she left behind, and a singing style formed at Santiniketan rather than in the studios.
