Patar bhela bhasai nire

পাতার ভেলা ভাসাই নীরে,

পিছন-পানে চাই নে ফিরে॥

    কর্ম আমার বোঝাই
ফেলা,   খেলা আমার চলার খেলা।

    হয় নি আমার আসন মেলা,  ঘর বাঁধি
নি স্রোতের তীরে॥

বাঁধন যখন বাঁধতে আসে

ভাগ্য আমার তখন হাসে॥

    ধুলা-ওড়া হাওয়ার ডাকে
পথ যে টেনে লয় আমাকে–

    নতুন নতুন বাঁকে বাঁকে গান দিয়ে যাই
ধরিত্রীরে॥

Paatar bhela bhaasai nire,
Pichhon-paane chaai ne phire.
Karmo aamar bojhai phela,    khela aamar chalaar khela.
Hoy ni aamar aason mela,     ghar bnaadhini sroter tire.
Bnaadhon jakhon bnaadhte aase
Bhaaggo aamar takhon haase .
Dhula ore haawar daake    path je tene loy aamake -
Notun notun bnaake bnaake gaan diye jaai dhoritrire.

English

In water, I float a leaf-boat.
Turning around to look back – I don't.
Its my duty to bear the burden.
My play it is to keep playing.
No seat have I on the bank of a stream.
No home have I.
With fetters, when I will be tied, my fate will smile.
At the call of the wind, dust is blown.
Taking me on the path of its own.
At every turn, I present a song to the world.
