যদি    প্রেম দিলে না প্রাণে

কেন   ভোরের আকাশ ভরে দিলে এমন গানে গানে?।

কেন   তারার মালা গাঁথা,

কেন   ফুলের শয়ন পাতা,

কেন   দখিন-হাওয়া গোপন কথা জানায় কানে কানে?।

যদি    প্রেম দিলে না প্রাণে

কেন   আকাশ তবে এমন চাওয়া চায় এ মুখের পানে?

তবে   ক্ষণে ক্ষণে কেন

আমার  হৃদয় পাগল-হেন

তরী   সেই সাগরে ভাসায় যাহার কূল সে নাহি জানে?।
