আমি    যখন ছিলেম অন্ধ

সুখের খেলায় বেলা গেছে, পাই নি তো আনন্দ॥

খেলাঘরের দেয়াল গেঁথে    খেয়াল নিয়ে ছিলেম
মেতে,

ভিত ভেঙে যেই এল ঘরে ঘুচল আমার বন্ধ।

সুখের খেলা আর রোচে না, পেয়েছি আনন্দ॥

ভীষণ আমার, রুদ্র আমার,   নিদ্রা গেল ক্ষুদ্র আমার–

উগ্র ব্যথায় নূতন ক’রে বাঁধলে আমার ছন্দ।

যে দিন তুমি অগ্নিবেশে    সব-কিছু মোর নিলে এসে

সে দিন আমি পূর্ণ হলেম ঘুচল আমার দ্বন্দ্ব।

দুঃখসুখের পারে তোমায় পেয়েছি আনন্দ॥

Sukher khelay bela gechhe paai ni to aanondo.
Khelagharer deyal gnethe kheyal niye chhilem mete,
Bhit bhenge jei ele ghore ghuchlo aamar bandho.
Sukher khela  aar roche na peyechhi aanondo.
Bhishan aamar, rudro aamar, nidra gelo khudro aamar -
Ugro byathaay nutan kore bnaadhle aamar chhando.
Je din tumi ognibeshe sob kichu mor nile ese
Se din aami purno holem ghuchlo aamar dwondo.
Dukkhosukher paare tomay peyechhi aanondo.
