Sokhi bohe gelo bela

সখী,  বহে গেল বেলা, শুধু হাসিখেলা  এ কি আর
ভালো লাগে।

  আকুল তিয়াষ, প্রেমের পিয়াস,  প্রাণে কেন নাহি জাগে॥

    কবে আর হবে থাকিতে জীবন  আঁখিতে
আঁখিতে মদির মিলন–

    মধুর হুতাশে মধুর দহন  নিতি-নব
অনুরাগে॥

  তরল কোমল নয়নের জল,  নয়নে উঠিবে ভাসি,

  সে বিষাদনীরে নিবে যাবে ধীরে  প্রখর চপল হাসি।

    উদার নিশ্বাস আকুলি উঠিবে,
আশানিরাশায় পরান টুটিবে–

    মরমের আলো কপোলে ফুটিবে
শরম-অরুণরাগে॥

E ki aar bhaalo laage!
Aakul tiyash, premero piyas,
Praane keno naahi jaage!
Kobe aar hobe thaakite jibon
Aankhite aankhite modir milon,
Modhur hutashe modhur dahon,
Niti-nabo onurage.
Tarol komol nayoner jol
Nayone uthibe bhaasi.
Se bisad-nire nibe jaabe dhire
Prokhar chapol haasi.
Udas nishwas aakuli uthibe,
Aasha-nirashay poran tutibe,
Maromer aalo kapole phutibe
